Automatic Traction Control for Articulated Off-Road Vehicles

چکیده

Construction equipment is designed to maintain good traction while operating in difficult off-road conditions. To curb wheel slip, the vehicles are equipped with differential locks. The locks may be engaged/disengaged switch between two distinct modes: closed mode characterized by greater passability, open allows better manueverability. This brief compares three on/off lock control algorithms. algorithms based on same kinematic vehicle model, but each relies availability of output signals from different sensors. validity model and algorithms’ sensitivity values assumed a couple unobservable states, slip angles, investigated comparison realistic articulated hauler multibody physics simulator MSC ADAMS.

Wheel Slip Identification and its Use in the Robust Control of Articulated Off-road Vehicles

In this paper, sliding mode controllers (SMC) are designed for a steerable tractor-trailer system, which is operating in the presence of longitudinal and lateral slips at front and rear wheels. Such vehicles intended for autonomous operations usually traverse at low speeds along straight lines. As very low accelerations are involved kinematic models seem sufficiently accurate for developing con...

Modelling of stable angle-based instability threat indicator for articulated off-road vehicles

This paper presents the modelling and simulation of a stable angle-based instability threat indicator for articulated off-road vehicles. First, a stable angle is represented by the vertical forces of four wheels and steering angle of an off-road articulated steer vehicle. Then a vehicle prototype model is built based on a specific wheel loader type and a tyre/terrain model. Finally, the prototy...

Automated Vehicle Stability Control for Articulated Vehicles

This work investigates the dynamics of heavy articulated vehicles and the problem of yawinstability caused by loss of traction. A mathematical model of the system is derived and applied to a typical vehicle used in mine haulage applications. Automatic control, based on differential wheel braking, is explored by simulation and shown to be potentially valuable in improving the safety of such vehi...

Controller Design for Off-tracking Elimination in Multi-articulated Vehicles

The motion of a multi-body autonomous robot as well as of a train-like multiarticulated transportation vehicle is characterized by the deviation of the path of each intermediate vehicle from that of the leading one (off-tracking). In this paper, we make use of an innovative junction technique, which allows the kingpin to slide along the axis of the leading vehicle, something that proved to be v...

Dynamic Analysis of Off-Road Vehicles

This paper deals with the simulation of oo-road robots while taking into account the mechanical behavior of the locomotion system and its interaction with its environment. This interaction is studied and discussed for diierent behaviors of wheel-soil contact. The analysis considers phenomena of slips, of soil shear deformations, of soil compaction and wheel elastic deformation. Wheel-soil conta...
